Before installing new software it’s a good idea to make sure the OS has all the latest security updates installed. Run the following commands to update the system:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade -y
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y
Since we are running BOINC on a server we will just install the BOINC client by running the following command:
sudo apt-get install boinc-client -y
BOINC should now be installed and you can check by running the following command:
The BOINC daemon should now be running and will start when the operating system boots.
