You must change the playback area on your YouTube TV account when you are out of your home, especially if you travel to another state. Otherwise, you won’t be able to access certain channels and you may experience playback errors. Luckily, you can quickly change your playback area in almost the same way as you would change the home area.

You can change your playback area from the settings menu on YouTube TV from your TV or phone. Open the settings menu, tap “Area”, and select ‘Playback Area”. A prompt will appear that sends you to tv.youtube.com/verify if you change the playback area on a TV.

No prompt to verify will appear if you change the playback area on your phone or a web browser.

Can You Use a VPN With YouTube TV?

You can use a VPN with YouTube TV, but some of them are blocked by YouTube. Many people use VPNs, or virtual private networks, to change their location for streaming services like YouTube TV, Disney Plus, Hulu, and Netflix.

Some shows and channels are only available in certain countries and regions, but you can access those shows if you change your locations with a VPN. For example, you could change your location from the United States to Mexico to access local Mexican channels on YouTube TV.

You can also use a VPN to access your local channels if you leave the state or country and want to feel like you are at home.
